District team's great performance at the Charity Quiz Night!

On Saturday 4th May, a joint charity quiz night was held at Croydon with funds raised being shared between the Mark 2014 Festival & Friends of Croydon Masonic Hall.

Over one hundred attended and made up fourteen teams from many parts of the Masonic 'family' - Craft and Mark lodges, the Mark executive, chapters, the lady Masons, the Widows' Association AND a Royal & Select Masters District team - led by our own District Grand Master, Right Illustrious Companion Arnold Long.

The team was boosted by top quizzers, Ill Comp Louis Keats & his lady, Kath. The teams were challenged by Quiz Master, Ill Comp Mike Neville, to nine rounds of questions, which ended in a very close finish - our District team came second, being pipped at the post by a team from Old England Craft lodge. To the relief of the District Grand Master, he was able to get the one cricket question correct!

The winning Old England team captain was presented with the Quiz Shield by WBro David Blackburn, Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Surrey Mark & WBro Jim Smith, Chairman of the Friends, leaving the RSM District team to rue some missed opportunities... But over £400 was raised for charity and a great evening was had by all.
