An Executive Visit to the Pride of Surrey Council

In September 2019, R.Ill. Comp. David Blackburn, District Grand Master, together with a number of District Grand Officers made an Official Visit to Pride of Surrey Council No 168.

After the Council was opened the District Grand Director of Ceremonies, Ill.Comp. Simon McCarthy, was admitted and advised the Thrice Illustrious Master, Ill.Comp. Tim Ford, that the Right Illustrious District Grand Master was in the ante room and demanded admission to the Council. The District Grand Master entered in procession with the Provincial team, was welcomed by the Thrice Illustrious Master to the Pride of Surrey Council and, on behalf of the companions, wished him a most enjoyable visit. The District Grand Master introduced his team thanking them for their support.

An Executive Visit to the Pride of Surrey Council After updating the Companions on the various District activities the District Grand Master had pleasure in presenting Thrice Illustrious Master Grand Council Certificates to Ill.Comps. Chris Eley and Gary Raggett saying what a splendid Silver Trowel Ceremony Ill.Comp. Leslie Grout performed at the Weald of Surrey Council.

The Thrice Illustrious Master adjourned a Council of Select Masters and invited R.Ill.Comp. Michael Barnes to assume the Chair and act as R.W.M. for the Ceremony of Most Excellent Master.

A Lodge of Most Excellent Masters was opened in due form. The R.W.M. assisted by his Officers then received and acknowledged as Most Excellent Masters Comp. Roy Miller and Comp. Robert Woolloff in a wonderful and meaningful fashion.

The R.W.M. then closed the Lodge of Most Excellent Masters and the Candidates for the Super Excellent Master Degree retired from the Council. R.Ill.Comp Michael Barnes invited Ill.Comp. Richard Baker to act as M.E. Gedaliah for the Super Excellent Master Degree.

A Council of Super Excellent Masters was opened and the M.E.Ged. assisted by his Officers then received and acknowledged as Super Excellent Masters Comps. Roy Miller and Robert Woolloff in a splendid manner. Ill.Comp. Richard Baker invited the T.I.M. to invest the candidates with their aprons. Before closing the Council of Super Excellent Masters the ME.Ged. thanked the Council on his and R.Ill. Comp. Michael Barnes’ behalf for inviting them to assist in the ceremonies. A Council of Select Masters was then resumed and Ill.Comp. Richard Baker invited the T.I.M. to resume his seat in the Council.

An Executive Visit to the Pride of Surrey Council The District Grand Master congratulated all the Companions who had taken part in the Ceremony this afternoon. The standard of work was excellent and the evident enjoyment by all had made it a very special meeting together. He also thanked R.Ill. Comp. Michael Barnes and Ill.Comp Richard Baker for their support for Pride of Surrey Council and said how interested he was in the way that Sussex performed the Degree of Super Excellent Master.

An Executive Visit to the Pride of Surrey Council He then had much pleasure in making a Field Appointment to Past District Grand Manciple to Comp. Robert Woolloff in recognition of his support for the District at the Annual Meeting earlier in the year. To say Comp. Bob was taken by surprise would be an understatement.

An Executive Visit to the Pride of Surrey Council The District Grand Master and Provincial Officers of the Year, together with R.Ill. Comp. Michael Barnes and Ill.Comp Richard Baker, retired in procession under the direction of the District Grand Director of Ceremonies.

After photographs and a few drinks in the bar, the Companions of the Pride of Surrey Council and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable festive board at the Sutton Masonic Centre.
