A busy afternoon for the Weald of Surrey Council

The Installation meeting of the Weald of Surrey Council No 309 took place in July. Present was the District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp, David Blackburn and the Past District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp, Arnold Long.

The Council was opened by the Thrice Illustrious Master, R.Ill.Comp, Michael Barnes and the District Grand Master was saluted under the direction of the Director of Ceremonies, Ill.Comp. Simon McCarthy. A ballot was taken for a re-joining member, Ill.Comp. Alan Hall; and six joining members; Ill.Comps. Chris Eley, Nigel Harding, Steve Harvey, Gary Raggett, Derek Williamson and Norman Woodfin. This proved in their favour and the Companions were welcomed into the Council by R.Ill.Comp. Michael Barnes and congratulated by R.Ill.Comp. David Blackburn.

Christopher's Hospice Fun Walk The next item on the agenda was to Install R.Ill.Comp. Chris Lewis as Thrice Illustrious Master. This was conducted in an excellent manner by R.Ill.Comp. Michael Barnes. Ill.Comp. Chris Hatton was appointed and invested as Deputy Master and Ill.Comp. David Thompson was appointed and invested as Principal Conductor of the Work.

Christopher's Hospice Fun Walk The District Grand Master was invited to present Grand Council Certificates to Ill.Comps. Richard Hardaker, Mark Elphick, Tony Leeward and Adam Spevack as Thrice Illustrious Masters in the Order of the Silver Trowel.

Christopher's Hospice Fun Walk A Council of Select Masters was closed and the Temple re-arranged for the Degree of Thrice Illustrious Master. I had the good fortune to be the Candidate (Solomon) for this ceremony.

The ceremony was conducted in a faultless manner by Ill.Comp. Leslie Grout as King David, Ill.Comp. Chris Hatton as Zadok, the Priest, and Ill.Comp. John Norton-Doyle as Nathan, the Prophet. The role of Benaiah was performed by Ill.Comp. Alan Boniface.

Christopher's Hospice Fun Walk After a few drinks in the bar, the Companions of the Weald of Surrey Council and their guests sat down to a most enjoyable festive board at the Nutfield Masonic Centre.
